Taking care of your skin while traveling

When you are traveling it can be difficult to keep on track with your normal routines like, fitness,  skin care, etc. Furthermore your normal routines might not be suitable for the change of environment. Therefore it’s a good idea to do some research about the place you are travelling, so you can prepare yourself by adapting your routines to the new environment. In this article we will focus specifically on skincare, but some of the rules are generic and applies to all routines.

1. Keep it simple

Our routines at home might be very complex, since we have built them up over time. A big part of our routines are connected to the environment they were built in. When you suddenly change your location, normal routines can start feel overwhelming, which eventually makes you lose track of them.

This applies to all kinds of routines and when it comes to your skin care routine, we advise you to limit yourself to the essential and most necessary items. This will both be beneficial for your daily skincare routine, but also in terms of luggage limitations.

2. Wash 2x a day
The most basic, yet most important part of a health skincare routine, is to wash your face every morning and evening with a good face wash. This advice may seem very simple and straight forward, but when we are traveling, we often lose track of time with so much going on, causing us to forget or miss the fundamental steps.

3. Sunscreen, sunscreen and more sunscreen!
If you are traveling to a warm destination, where your skin is exposed to a lot of sun, sunscreen is very important to keep your skin healthy. The sunscreen factor plays a huge role, especially for your face you need a sunscreen with high coverage.

If you’re not used to live in a place where sunscreen is needed on a daily basis, it is very easy to forget when being on vacation. Make sure to apply sunscreen in the morning and always bring a sunscreen tube in the bag, when going out to explore.

If you’re spending a lot of time in the water/ocean, doing water activities, then most regular sunscreens would not be enough because of low water resistant. In this case, a sunscreen recommended for surfers, might be a good option.

4. Moisturize
Spending a lot of time outside in the sun, will make your skin more dry. It is very important to use some good hydrating and moisturizing cream in your evening routine, so your skin gets a chance to recover and be ready for a new day of sun exposure. 5. Evening routine
Use the evenings to take care of your usual steps in your skincare routine. By applying your skincare products in the evening, you give your body time to heal during the night.
